COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — St. Mary's Men's Soccer opened up the 2013 season with a 3-0 defeat against Colorado-Colorado Springs on Thursday.
The Mountain Lions (1-0) struck once in the first half and twice more in the second before 106 fans, downing the Rattlers (0-1) in just the third meeting between the schools.

Patrick Kasperitis (RS-Sr., Corpus Christi, Texas) made four saves in the net, but it wasn't enough against a UCCS offensive attack that outshot the Rattlers 17-11. James Roberts scored on a header in the 13
th minute, while reserve Jr Calhoun connected on two second-half goals to ice the game.

Alex Gonzalez (McAllen, Texas) led the Rattlers with three shots, two of which were on goal.
St. Mary's will be back in action in Colorado on Saturday, taking on Regis at 3 p.m. in Denver.
