Men's Soccer drops contest against TAMIU, 1-2

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Men's Soccer fell to Texas A&M International Friday, 1-2.
 
Alexis Santamaria (So., San Antonio) netted for the Rattlers Friday, charting his second goal on the season.
 
Santamaria struck in the first half at Dustdevil Soccer Field to tie the game 1-1 after TAMIU recorded a goal in the 21st minute of the game. Santamaria was assisted by Josh Stevens (RS-Jr., San Antonio) off a long pass to leave Santamaria one-on-one with the keeper, which he beat for the goal.
 
Dustdevil Ryan Hodgson then netted the game-winner six minutes into the second half.
 
Although a Heartland Conference member, the Rattlers' contest against TAMIU will not count towards conference records.
 
The Rattlers drop to 0-5 on the season after Friday's loss.
 
St. Mary's recorded nine shots for the game, four of which were on goal, to the Dustdevils' 15.
 
Jack Wolf (So., Richardson, Texas) led the Rattlers' in shots with four with one shot on goal followed by Santamaria with two shots, one shot on goal.
 
Keeper Patrick Kasperitis (RS-Sr., Corpus Christi, Texas) recorded seven saves for the game, allowing two goals to fall to 0-5 on the season.
 
The Rattlers will play again at 1 p.m. Sunday against No. 5 West Texas A&M at St. Mary's Intramural field. It will be the first time since the 2010 season that the Rattlers will back on campus.
