Box Score SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's
Jack Wolf stood on the far corner of the field, playfully howling as he celebrated a first-half goal Thursday.
The connection, coming in the waning seconds of the first half, sliced the Rattlers' two-goal deficit in half in a non-conference game against Heartland Conference foe Texas-Permian Basin.
But it was UTPB's Nathan Cotterell getting the last howl, as the striker's hat trick fueled the Falcons' 3-1 victory over St. Mary's at Our Lady of the Lake Field.
Cotterell tacked on goal No. 3 in the 51
st minute, creating enough distance from an attacking Rattler (0-4) squad that outshot the Falcons 13-10 on the day.
UTPB goalkeeper Craig Branum helped the Falcons improve to 4-1 by collecting five saves, while St. Mary's
Patrick Kasperitis (RS-Sr., Corpus Christi, Texas) had three stops in the net. Wolf led the Rattlers with six shots.
St. Mary's will hit the field again next Friday, Sept. 27 at Texas A&M International in Laredo.
