SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's University junior pitcher
Gabe Cook was today named the NCBWA South Central Region Pitcher of the Week after his amazing efforts at St. Edward's last weekend.
Junior left-hander
Gabe Cook (San Antonio) tossed six shutout innings with six strikeouts and allowed just one hit to earn the win on the road against St. Edward's. Cook did not walk a batter and had a perfect game through 5 2/3 innings. His performance helped the then-No. 18-ranked Rattlers take a 2-1 advantage in the series. It was Cook's third straight start after beginning the season in the bullpen. He is 2-0 over that stretch and the Rattlers have won all three of his starts.
Cook has a 3.03 season ERA with a 3-0 record and three saves, and has a 3:1 K:BB ratio in 2026.
It is the first regional award for Cook in his career, and the second for the Rattlers this season after
Garrett Brooks (Spring Branch, Texas) won the award in the first week.
