Softball Sweeps Day Two of Alvy Early Memorial Classic

Box Score 1 BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The hit parade continued for the St. Mary's University Softball team on Saturday at the Alvy Early Memorial Classic as the team won 5-3 against Southeastern Oklahoma State and came from behind to defeat William Jewell 10-9.
 
The bats stayed hot for the Rattlers (7-2) as they scored five runs on eight hits in the opener and scored 10 runs on 10 hits in the nightcap. They also added seven stolen bases to their impressive total, including three by junior Bryley Westfahl (San Antonio) in the win over William Jewell.
 
Both Gabriela Banda (San Antonio) and Miah Corona (Eddy, Texas) hit a home run on the day, and Banda added two sacrifice flies, going 3-for-6 at the plate.
 
Senior Ariella Saenz (Pharr, Texas) improved to 2-1 with a complete game victory over the Savage Storm. She allowed only one earned run on 12 hits with one walk and four strikeouts. 
 
Junior Emery Aguilar (Georgetown, Texas) moved to 2-0 with the win over the Cardinals. She pitched the final four innings and didn't allow a run in helping the Rattlers complete the comeback. She walked two and hit a batter, giving up only one base hit. Freshman Aly Garcia (Edinburg, Texas), Emily Ayala (San Antonio) and Breanna Ford (Corpus Christi, Texas) all pitched before Aguilar shut down the WJC offense.
 
The Rattlers conclude the tournament on Sunday against Emporia State at 11 a.m. and Truman State at 1:30 p.m.
