DALLAS, Texas — UT Dallas scored two goals in the final 15 minutes to come back and defeat the St. Mary's University Women's Soccer team 3-2 on Wednesday night in the Lone Star Conference opener for both teams.
The Rattlers (1-2-1, 0-1-0) saw both senior
Shelby Paniagua (Cibolo, Texas) and junior
Malia Dominguez (Helotes, Texas) score their second goals of the season, but Grace Pritchard scored a brace and Chelsea Vilca added one in between for the Comets (4-0-1, 1-0-0).
Paniagua took five shots on the evening, three of them on goal, scoring on a penalty kick in the 68th minute. She now has 10 PKs in her career and 21 goals, which ties her for eighth on the St. Mary's career goals chart with Rachel Gurinsky (2014-17) and Alexia Maldonado (2016-19).
Dominguez got the scoring going for the Rattlers, finding the back of the net on a pass from freshman
Natalya Hendrus (New Braunfels, Texas). It is her second-straight game with a goal and the ninth of her career. She added one other shot during the match.
Junior
Elena Kossler (Ötztal-Bahnhof, Austria) added the other shot on goal and three total shots as the Rattlers and Comets each had five shots on goal, while StMU totaled 11 shots, edging out UTD with eight.
The Rattlers return home to host fifth-ranked DBU on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Patriots defeated Angelo State 2-0 on Wednesday.
