Streak Stretches to Six For Volleyball

PORTALES, N.M. — A total team effort by the St. Mary's University Volleyball team lifted them to a sixth-straight victory on Friday evening at Eastern New Mexico, 25-15, 25-16, 20-25, 25-22.

All six Rattlers (13-11, 10-4) hitters posted at least five kills, led by senior Laurene Robinson (Bedford, Texas) with 10.

The main serving objective for the Greyhounds (4-22, 1-13) seemed to be focused on senior Alyssa Koehl (New Braunfels, Texas), who fielded 29 of the 61 serves on the evening without making an error, and she added a team-high 17 digs. Koehl surpassed the 500-dig total for the season (510) and is now only 31 shy of the 2,000-career dig milestone.

Senior middle blocker Dallasstar Johnson (San Antonio) recorded as many blocks as she did kills on the evening, with six of each, while fellow senior Isabella Waggoner (Texas City, Texas) served up a team-high three aces. The six blocks for Johnson move her into third all-time at St. Mary's in career blocks with 344, passing Leslie Arnold (1997-00) and Lauren Holman (2012-15), who each totaled 340 in their careers.

Junior setter Haleigh Wilk (Salado, Texas) posted another double-double with 14 assists and 10 digs, while freshman setter Liz Salinas (Helotes, Texas) notched a match-high 18 assists and added three kills. Wilk also served two more aces, bringing her season total to 41, which ties for 18th all-time in St. Mary's history and ties for fourth in the modern scoring era.

Sophomore Kaylee Cavazos (San Antonio) was the third Rattler to amass double digits in digs with 10. It is the second time in the last three matches and the fourth time this year she's had 10 or more digs in a match.

The Rattlers wrap up their four-match road trip at #15 West Texas A&M at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Lady Buffs swept St. Edward's on Friday.
