2013 (Senior): Had a tremendous final season with the Rattlers, earning a slew of honors including being named Daktronics All-Region First Team and the Heartland Conference Player of the Year … Led the team at the plate with a powerful .389 batting average and a team-high 41 RBIs … Had a 12-game hitting streak during the season and had multiple hits in 23 games ... Also led the team in total bases with 89 and on base percentage at .461 … Started all of the 56-game season with 391 putouts, 23 assists and two errors for a .993 fielding percentage … Also smacked two homers and six doubles and earned the Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week award twice … Also named All-Conference First Team, Conference All-Tournament Team and All-Region Tournament Team. 

2012 (Junior): Proved his dominance as a designated hitter for the Rattlers, batting .329 on the season that included 15 doubles, one triple and two homeruns for a team second-best 42 RBIs … Named the Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week on 4/23 and Heartland Conference Second Team … In 216 at-bats knocked 71 hits and struck out just 15 times … Scored 33 runs for a .411 on-base percentage … As the Rattlers’ reserve first basemen, recorded 60 putouts and three assists. 

Hill College: Got his first taste of college baseball for head coach Chris Ratieke, earning All Conference as a designated hitter, All Conference for first base and All Region ... Also attened Navarro College, Angelo State University and Northwest Vista College.

High School: Was a multiple sport standout for head coach Brock Rumfield, lettering in football, baseball, track and field, basketball and golf ... Earned All State in baseball his sophomore year as well as First Team All District selection for both baseball and football ... Went to state semi-finals with his football team twice and once with his baseball team ... Rightfully named Athlete of the Year his senior year.

Personal: Parents are William Bates and Ouida Mazurek ... Has two brothers, Josh and Sean ... Brother Sean is a current player on the St. Mary's baseball team ... Majoring in excerise and sports science.
