RICHARDSON, Texas — For the second-straight week, a St. Mary's University Baseball student-athlete has earned Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week honors as junior Dillon Lopez was named on Monday.

Lopez, a junior from San Antonio, hit .692 (9-for-13) with two home runs, a double and eight RBI to lead the No. 18-ranked Rattlers to a series win over West Texas A&M in a battle of two of the league's top four teams in the standings. Lopez had at least one hit and RBI in all four games, and laid down a sacrifice bunt in each of the final three games – all victories. He also scored five times and stole two bases. In the series opener, Lopez hit home runs in consecutive at bats. In the finale, he went 4-for-4. Lopez also threw out his conference-leading 11th runner trying to steal. He has reached base safely in all 32 games this season.

Lopez joins Garrett Brooks (Spring Branch, Texas), who was named hitter of the week in week one, and Ashton Beaird (San Antonio), who earned the award last week, as Rattlers who have been named this season. It is the first weekly award for the junior, who splits his time between catcher and designated hitter.
