ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — In addition to sitting atop the team leaderboard after two rounds, the No. 9 St. Mary's University Men's Golf team has the top two on the individual player leaderboard at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate, hosted by Lincoln Memorial at the St. John's Golf & Country Club.
The Rattlers shot one-under par as a team in each round on Monday and hold a nine-shot lead over No. 12 North Georgia. St. Mary's is the only team in the field to have entered the clubhouse under par in each round.
Senior
Baptiste Touchard (Saint-Agathon, France) holds a two-shot lead over teammate
Guillaume Paquette (La Minerve, Quebec) and Mattia D'Errico from Wingate. Touchard opened the day with a 71 in the first 18 holes and fired a 69 in the second round for his 36-hole total of 140. Paquette posted a tournament low round of 68 during the morning and tallied a 74 in the afternoon for 142.
Sophomore
Elijah Galvan (Austin, Texas) is in a five-way tie for seventh place after posting rounds of 73 and 72 for a one-over-par total of 145. After shooting a 75 on the first 18, senior
Kongpop Kaikaew (Rayong, Thailand) shaved three strokes off for an even-par 72 in round two, and he is in a three-way tie for 16th place.
Senior Philip Hallström (Gävle, Sweden) did not figure into the team scoring in either round but is in a six-way tie for 44th place with his two-round total of 153 (78-75/+9).
Paquette has nailed nine birdies in the first 36 holes to lead the field in that category, while Touchard and Galvan both have 26 pars to tie for the lead in that statistic.
For the final round on Tuesday, the Rattlers will be teamed with golfers from North Georgia, Catawba, and Georgia Southwestern. The four schools will begin on holes 1-4 in a shotgun start at 7 a.m.
