ALPINE, Texas — St. Mary's University sophomore
Raynne Malik put on a rebounding clinic at Sul Ross State on Thursday evening, getting as many rebounds as the entire opposing team, 12-to-12, in a 64-43 victory.

Malik, a forward from London, Ontario, led the game with her 12 boards, notching double figures for the seventh time this year, and she tallied her second double-double with a game- and season-high 13 points. She also blocked four shots.

Allie Garcia (Adelaide, South Australia) also put double figures in the scoring column with 10 points, extending her three-point streak to 18 straight games with her 2-for-5 performance from the arc. Senior
Aina Maynou (Cabrera de Mar, Spain) and sophomore
Christin Callens (Houston) added nine points each in the balanced scoring attack.

Andrea Montesinos (Valencia, Spain) continually found the open player, each with five assists, as the Rattlers (14-9, 9-8) recorded 15 assists on 24 made baskets.Â

The 21-point margin of victory for the Rattlers is the second-largest of the season (23 at Oklahoma Christian, Jan. 22), as StMU pulled away in the second half after a slow start, which saw the first quarter end with St. Mary's ahead 9-7.Â

Both teams struggled with ball control, combining for 45 turnovers and 21 steals, but the Rattlers made the most of their possessions, shooting 47.1 percent (24-for-51) from the field.

St. Mary's continues the trek west, playing in Silver City, N.M., on Saturday afternoon against Western New Mexico. The Mustangs dropped a close 59-52 decision to St. Edward's on Thursday evening despite Jordan Sapien scoring 25 points.
