LUBBOCK, Texas — St. Mary's University Women's Soccer midfielder
Michelle Ramirez scored the lone goal in the regular season finale at Lubbock Christian on Tuesday night.
The win is the fourth-straight for the Rattlers (9-5-3, 8-4-2), and they are unbeaten in their last six, earning the No. 6 seed at the upcoming Lone Star Conference Tournament. StMU will face Texas Woman's in Denton on Monday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m.
Senior
Ana Parra (San Antonio) lobbed the ball into the box in the 18th minute and junior
Elena Kossler (Ötztal-Bahnhof, Austria) headed it, where freshman
Addison Miller (San Antonio) was able to use her head to pass the ball over to Ramirez (Helotes, Texas), who used her left foot to find the lower left corner of the net.
It is both the first career goal for Ramirez and the first career assist for Miller, who played in her 12th match of the year.
In the 30th minute, the Lady Chaps (8-7-2, 6-5-2) – which earned the seventh seed in the tournament – had a shot that was extremely close to a goal, but Parra used her body to flip the ball out and keep the lead with the Rattlers.
Senior goalkeeper
Haley Faucette (Burlington, S.C.) made four saves in the first half, and the defense held the Lady Chaps to only three shots in the second stanza, and none on goal.
On the other hand, the Rattlers took 15 shots on the night, and 11 of them were on goal, demonstrating extreme efficiency with their shots. Kossler led the team with four shots on goal, while senior
Shelby Paniagua (Cibolo, Texas) and freshman
Marily Garza Contreras (Duncanville, Texas) each had two.
St. Mary's hasn't faced Texas Woman's since Sept. 24, when the Pioneers won 3-0 in San Antonio. The Rattlers have gone 8-1-2 since that meeting.
