Michael Maciel claimed his first Heartland Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week award after leading the No. 29 Rattlers to a victory over Texas-Permian Basin. 
 
Maciel defeated the Falcons' toughest competitor, their No. 1 Justin Pena, 6-3, 6-4 and won his doubles match 8-6 where he again faced Pena.
 
On the season, the Sugarland, Texas native is 2-1 in singles action. 
 
Maciel's strong performance helped the Rattlers improve their record to 3-3 on the season with the 9-0 sweep of UTPB.
