The only player in St. Mary’s history with 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, Kevin Kotzur was a star both on and off the hardwood. As a senior, he was named to the inaugural Allstate Good Works Team for his efforts in the community, visiting children at University Hospital and volunteering with the University’s Angel Tree program. He broke the Heartland Conference records for scoring, field goals made, field goal percentage and rebounds, earning both Heartland Conference Hall of Fame and 20th Anniversary All-Basketball Team honors. In the Rattlers record book, Kotzur holds down places two through five in single-season field goal percentage and owns the single-game record with eight blocked shots, which he did as a freshman. In his final year, he was also named to the NABC All-Star Game after being selected the Heartland Conference and Daktronics South Central Region Player of the Year.

Currently:
Kotzur is still playing basketball professionally. His first year after graduation was spent in the NBA D/G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors, and since he has been playing in Japan.

Quote:
“St. Mary’s allowed me to get a great education, while establishing bonds and connections with fellow students and alumni. It also gave me the opportunity to meet my wife and to now have a beautiful family. St Mary’s will always be a special place to us, and we would not have it any other way.”
