Guard (1987-1991)
During his four years at St. Mary’s, Adrian Wright developed into one of the best defensive players to ever grace the hardwood floor of St. Mary’s.
He frequently changed the course of a game by neutralizing the other team’s top scorer. He played an instrumental defensive role at the 1989 NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City, as the team claimed the national title.
Although often remembered as a defensive star, during his senior season, Wright averaged 12.1 points per game, hit 50.4 percent of his field goals and shot 80.3 percent from the free-throw line. He earned two All-Conference selections throughout his career and remains No. 8 for career three-point percentage at .384 (56-146). He is also No. 2 for single-season free throw percentage at .894 (59-66) hit during his junior season.
He also excelled in the classroom, majoring in computer information systems.
