SAN ANTONIO — Nicole Sardelich was red-hot, Vianna Gutierrez Touchtone was masterful and the St. Mary's Rattlers were not to be denied in Friday's opening round of the NCAA Division II South Central Softball Regional.

The No. 2 seed Rattlers will face No. 3 seed Metro State at 12 p.m. in a non-elimination game. No. 7 seed Texas Woman's will face No. 6 seed Regis at 2:30 p.m. in an elimination game.

Nicole Sardelich went 3 for 3 in the game with one run scored and one walk, extending her red-hot postseason. During the playoffs, the Heartland Conference Player of the Year is 10 for 14 (.714).
